Disaster

        A disaster is a natural or man-made (or technological) hazard that has come to fruition, resulting in an event of substantial extent causing significant physical damage or destruction, loss of life, or drastic change to the environment. A disaster can be ostensibly defined as any tragic event with great loss stemming from events such as earthquakes, floods, catastrophic accidents, fires, or explosions. It is a phenomenon that causes huge damage to life, property and destroys the economic, social and cultural life of people.
In contemporary academia, disasters are seen as the consequence of inappropriately managed risk. These risks are the product of a combination of both hazard/s and vulnerability. Hazards that strike in areas with low vulnerability are not considered a disaster, as is the case in uninhabited regions.
Developing countries suffer the greatest costs when a disaster hits – more than 95 percent of all deaths caused by disasters occur in developing countries, and losses due to natural disasters are 20 times greater (as a percentage of GDP) in developing countries than in industrialized countries

        ภัยพิบัติเป็นอันตรายที่ธรรมชาติหรือที่มนุษย์สร้างขึ้นที่ได้มาเห็นผลส่งผลให้ในกรณีที่มีขอบเขตที่สำคัญที่ก่อให้เกิดความเสียหายทางกายภาพอย่างมีนัยสำคัญหรือการทำลาย,การสูญเสียชีวิตหรือการเปลี่ยนแปลงรุนแรงต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม ภัยพิบัติเป็นเหตุการณ์ที่น่าเศร้ากับการสูญเสีย อันเนื่องมาจากเหตุการณ์เช่นการเกิดแผ่นดินไหว,น้ำท่วม,อุบัติเหตุหายนะที่เกิดเพลิงไหม้หรือระเบิด มันเป็นปรากฏการณ์ที่ทำให้เกิดความเสียหายอย่างมากต่อชีวิตทรัพย์สินและทำลายชีวิตเศรษฐกิจสังคมและวัฒนธรรมของประชาชน
ในสถาบันการศึกษาร่วมสมัยภัยพิบัติจะเห็นเป็นผลมาจากความเสี่ยงที่มีการจัดการที่ไม่เหมาะสม ความเสี่ยงเหล่านี้เป็นสินค้าที่มีการรวมกันของทั้งสองอันตราย และช่องโหว่ อันตรายที่นัดหยุดงานในพื้นที่ที่มีช่องโหว่ในระดับต่ำจะไม่ถือว่าเป็นภัยพิบัติเป็นกรณีในภูมิภาคที่ไม่มีใครอยู่.
ประเทศกำลังพัฒนาประสบค่าใช้จ่ายที่ยิ่งใหญ่ที่สุดเมื่อเกิดภัยพิบัติมากกว่าร้อยละ 95 ของการเสียชีวิตทั้งหมดเกิดจากภัยพิบัติที่เกิดขึ้นในประเทศกำลังพัฒนา

An Exciting Day

        August 19,1998, was an exciting day for me. It was 9:00 on a Tuesday morning in Samutsongkram. I was alone because my father were going to bank . Suddenly, the room started to shake. Some dishes fell to the floor. I did not know what to do, so I got under a table. A few minutes later, I came out and tried to turn on the television, but the electricity was off. After that, I tried  the telephone, but it did not work. Shortly after, the aunt came to see if I was alright. Finally, at about 11:11 A.M. , the telephone rang. It was my father from bank. he was more scared than I was.

      วันที่ 19 สิงหาคม1998 เป็นวันที่น่าตื่นเต้นสำหรับฉัน  ในเช้าวันอังคารเมื่อเวลา 9:00 น. ในจังหวัดสมุทรสงคราม ฉันอยู่คนเดียวเพราะพ่อของฉันกำลังจะไปที่ธนาคาร ทันใดนั้นห้องเริ่มที่จะสั่น จานก็ตกลงไปที่พื้น ฉันไม่ทราบว่าจะทำอย่างไรฉันจึงไปอยู่ใต้โต๊ะไม่กี่นาทีต่อมาฉันออกมาและพยายามที่จะเปิดโทรทัศน์ แต่กระแสไฟฟ้าถูกปิด หลังจากนั้นฉันพยายามโทรศัพท์ แต่มันไม่ได้ทำงาน หลังจากนั้นไม่นานป้ามาดูว่าฉันไม่เป็นไร สุดท้ายเวลาประมาณ11:11 น. โทรศัพท์ได้ดังขึ้น มันเป็นพ่อของฉันที่โทรจากธนาคาร เขาตกใจมากกว่าที่ฉันเป็น
